On May 9, 2024, we had a productive meeting with YBrs. Mr. Imran Bin Abdullah is the Under Secretary of Fund Division at the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI). Discussions focused on the strategic role of science, technology, and innovation (SIT) in enhancing Malaysia’s sporting capacities and the 3rd Research in High Performance Sports Colloquium (HPSC 2024).

During the meeting, we emphasized the importance of SIT in shaping the future of high performance sports, focusing on the Sports-Inno Challenge, a flagship event within HPSC 2024. This challenge aims to bring together academics, industry professionals, and students to work together on creative solutions. Through this program, participants will demonstrate innovative thinking and support an evidence-based, data-driven approach to sports performance.

YBrs. Mr Imran valued the challenge’s goals and capacity to promote significant innovation. He emphasized the importance of fostering cooperation between the government, business, and academic communities to keep Malaysia’s sports ecosystem innovative and competitive. The challenge aligns with MOSTI’s objective to support research and innovation that can significantly advance the country.

This meeting demonstrated a shared commitment to using strategic collaborations to advance sports research and development. By funding projects like the Sports-Inno Challenge, we want to develop talent, inspire ground-breaking concepts, and establish Malaysia as one of theĀ leadersĀ in high performance sports innovation. MOSTI’s ongoing assistance will be crucial to accomplishing these objectives and propelling HPSC 2024’s success.
